It's the annual championship game of the National Football League and also an American pastime, the Super Bowl. And since this is one the most popular annual events in the United States, we thought before we head into this year’s game between the Giants and the Patriots, we take look at some past highlights of this super sports tradition.

The first game took place on January 15th between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Green Bay won this and the second championship under the guidance of Coach Vince Lombardi. Incidentally, the Super Bowl Championship Trophy is named after him.

Super Bowl three featured Joe Namath and the famous New York Jets victory. It was also the first game to officially bear the name "Super Bowl", the first two were known as "The AFL-NFL Championship Game."

But just giving facts isn't enough. I wanted to find some sort of expert or historian. Well, it looks like I did. Eight-year-old Ethan Ritter.

You could say Ethan Price from Stillwater is a football fanatic. Just look at his bedroom wall, so let's see how he does on our Super Bowl fun facts, question one:

"What team has won the most Super Bowls?”

“Pittsburgh Steelers,” replied Ethan.

"That is correct."

“So we're one for one. Next question: What two teams have appeared in the most super bowls?”

"Pittsburgh Steelers,” said Ethan.

“And the Dallas Cowboys, but he's still half correct. Next: What quarterback has won the super bowl MVP trophy three times, more than anyone else?”

“Joe Montana,” said Ethan.

“I barely got the question out on that one, so I had to get a little tricky here. What is the only team to appear in a Super Bowl without scoring a touchdown?”

"That’s a tough one, it's the Miami Dolphins. But then he came back with some timeline questions, Super bowl 2007?"

"The Bears and the Colts. How about 2008? The Giants and the Patriots, Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers."

All in all, not bad three out of four. We'll have more questions for Ethan in part two of this segment.

And what super bowl event would be complete without the commercials? In 1967, a 30 second commercial cost $42,000. For this year's game, $3.5 million.
