NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. – North Greenbush Police Chief Rocco Fragomeni has announced he is retiring after 32 years of service. He's been chief of police for the last 15 years.

Fragomeni says he's happy with the staff he's leaving behind and happy to be retiring when times are good.

Fragomeni said, "You see so many people leave their jobs, I've seen it over the 32 years, when there's controversy because either they've done something or someone in the department has done something and there's just a shadow cast over their retirement. And I couldn’t think of a more perfect time, things are running very well here. I've got a great staff I've had a great 32 years and it's time to move on."

Fragomeni isn't fading away from police life completely. On Monday, he starts as director of the police academy in Schenectady.
