Parts of Central New York dealing with lake effect snow

We're getting an arctic blast of cold air, but just to our west, winter is out in full force. Heavy lake effect snow has been pounding Oswego County and the Tug Hill area all day long. Now, that band is starting to move south, impacting more of Central New York. Our Katie Gibas reports.

CENTRAL SQUARE, N.Y. -- If you're outside the lake effect snow band, it's hard to imagine just how intense it is.

Emergency officials tells us that in some places in Oswego County, roads are impassable and visibility is nearly zero.

Some of the areas getting hit the hardest are seeing two to four inches of snow per hour, topping 20 inches before the day is out.

A travel advisory is in effect for Oswego County. Officials are urging everyone to stay home if possible.
