JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. -- A sick little boy celebrates a new lease on life. Six months ago, baby Jackson underwent a bone marrow and stem cell transplant. Since that treatment, Jax has made promising strides in fighting his condition.

Friends and family gathered to celebrate a six month re-birth party in celebration of Jax's progress.

"He received donor cells so that the cells can find their way to the missing proteins and start making his body grow the missing protein to hold his skin on to his body to grow better skin, heal the old wounds. Just look at his hands right now they're brand new skin, and he loves showing them off," said Jessica Valik, Jax’s mom.

Back in July, Jax's mom said they might have an opportunity to meet the bone marrow and stem cell donor.

Right now, there is no cure for Jax's condition, called Epidermolysis Bullosa.
