ALBANY, N.Y. -- An informational meeting was held on the new parking permit system in Albany.

The Washington Park Neighborhood Association held the meeting at the First Presbyterian Church.

Last year, the city signed off on a plan to create permit parking for the Pastures and Ten Broeck Triangle and Mansion Neighborhoods. A few hundred spots on certain streets in those areas are be open for permit holders to park on all day.

Organizers of the meeting say the permits will cut down on a lot of parking problems in the city.

"Everybody is really excited about it. It's something we wanted for decades. We think it's going to be positive. For the city, for the neighborhood and for the businesses on Lark Street," said Bill Pettit, Washington Park Neighborhood Association President.

A permit costs $25.
