Albany Co. executive recommending changes to legislature

By: Web Staff

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany County Executive Dan McCoy is looking at ways to improve the government in the county. He's making recommendations regarding the future of the county government.

Among the potential changes is reducing the size of the legislature and implementing term limits for the county executive position.

A commission was formed last year to study the size and cost of county government. That commission will meet sometime this week.

Albany County has the largest county government in New York state with 39 members of the legislature.

There's no word yet on when these changes will officially be introduced to the legislature for consideration.
