RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rensselaer County republican elected officials were sworn in on Tuesday.

Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin, State Senator Kathy Marchione and County Court Judge Debra Young were sworn in at the Rensselaer County Courthouse.

Marchione now represents the 43rd Senate District including Rensselaer, Columbia, and Saratoga counties.

McLaughlin represents the 107th district, which includes parts of Rensselaer, Columbia and Washington counties

Young made history, becoming the first republican in nearly 40 years to be elected to the position and also the first woman ever in the position.

Marchione said, "I'm looking forward to going down to Albany tomorrow and starting the job that I took the oath for today. I talked about throughout the campaign about unfunded mandates and I talked about too many regulations on our small businesses and we need go down and we need to work on those items.”

Marchione leaves behind her long held position as Saratoga County Clerk.
