ALBANY, N.Y. -- Olympic silver medalist Paul Wylie showed off his talents at the Empire State Plaza ice rink. Local families also had the opportunity to skate alongside Wylie.

The Olympic skater participated in the 1992 Olympic games and then went on to win the World Professional and U.S Open skating championships in 1993. He says taking your family out to skate in the winter time has lots of benefits.

“I think it's a great family activity. It's relatively inexpensive. You can come out here, enjoy the weather, get a little exercise, expose your kids to something different and get them out from under the TV set,” Wylie said.

The event was put on by Hannaford Supermarkets, which also sponsors free skate rentals every Friday during the winter season.
