GREENVILLE, N.Y. – We have some sad news to pass along. Greenville native Daniel Fratto, 19, has passed away.
Fratto, who was a member of the "Beautiful People" organization in Orange County, was disabled and battled severe immune deficiencies. "Beautiful People" was created to provide an adaptive baseball league for children with disabilities. Fratto couldn't physically participate in the games, so he served as the announcer.
In August of 2010, Fratto was picked as one of the honorees in the Yankees "HOPE Week" and did some announcing for the team for half an inning.
Fratto passed away late Sunday evening surrounded by his family.
Visitation hours for Fratto are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. At 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, a Celebration of Daniel's Life will be led by Fr. Patrick McGuigan, O.Carm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daniel's name may be made to either Beautiful People-US c/o Jan Brunkhorst, 13 First Street, Warwick, NY 10990 at www.beautiful-people.us or the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 832 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591 or www.wish.org.
