ALBANY, N.Y. -- A false alarm forced a local nursing home to go on lockdown and prompted the response of several law enforcement agencies.

A call came in around 5:30 p.m. Saturday from the Daughters of Sarah senior community. The caller reported that a person with a gun was in the building.

Police responded and closed off several roads around the building. Thankfully, the call turned out to be a misunderstanding and no one was found with a gun.

The Albany Police Chief said had the shooting in Connecticut not happened, their response would not have been any different.

"The response would have been exactly the same. That plays on everybody's emotions and everybody's concerned, so clearly that's in the back of everybody's minds, but our response would have been exactly the same and I'm hoping that the people of the City of Albany feel reassured that if we ever had a situation like this they are in good hands," said Albany Police Chief Steven Krokoff.

Krokoff said at no time was anyone in any danger.
