COLUMBIA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A happy reunion took place Sunday after an owner who lost her parrot during Superstorm Sandy was reunited with the bird.

Plucky the parrot showed up one day while Angela Brink was watching over her friend’s house of seven years Brink says the bird looked exhausted and disoriented and that's when she took Plucky under her wing.

Plucky was then re-named Sandy, after the storm, and was given a new home in Copake, 120 miles away from her original home in Queens. According to Brink, no one had reported losing a parrot, but that didn't stop her from looking for Plucky's owners. She and her husband searched the internet and social networks for weeks.

In a twist of fate, the Brinks found Plucky's owner, Pepper O'Brien, who had been displaced by the storm after visiting a Facebook page called “Hurricane Sandy lost and found pets." O'Brien says she was extremely happy when she realized her missing bird had been found.

"I called the number and the woman answered and I told her, ‘I think I have your Plucky’ and she was, in her words, over the moon," Angela Brink said.

"I was shocked when I got that phone call and that phone call was I think I have your bird in Upstate New York. I couldn’t imagine how did she get there?! And the story really is unbelievable," Pepper O’Brien said.

Plucky has been O'Brien's pet for seven years.

Plucky likes to eat peeled grapes and also likes show tunes and will dance if you sing them to her.
