COLONIE, N.Y. -- Colonie police have arrested a Troy woman they say burglarized a home before torching it.

Khadijah Hopkins, 26, was already arrested for burglarizing 96 Elm Street earlier this month. But now she's being charged with arson and for killing a dog in the fire.

Police say Hopkins was an acquaintance of the man who lived at 96 Elm and knew he wasn't home. They say Hopkins stole a flat screen TV, laptop computer and some video game equipment before setting the house on fire.

Hopkins was arrested and charged with burglary, arson, aggravated cruelty to animals and petit larceny. She is being held at Albany County Jail.
