Rapp Road Landfill set to take Sandy debris

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Rapp Road Landfill in Albany is set to start taking in debris from the places hit by hurricane Sandy.

Communities that were devastated by the storm are still in the process of cleaning up and officials say they're facing problems disposing of the debris in those spots.

During the next 30 days, the landfill will be taking in extra waste and there's the option to extend that if necessary.

In addition, the landfill is now open on Saturdays and Sundays and hours during the week are increased as well.

The Albany Department of General Services says it does not predict any negative impact on the landfill because of the increased activity.
