Still no bid has been selected for the sale of the Golden Hill Health Care Center in Kingston. The sale of the facility has been an ongoing concern in the community and as YNN's Alexandra Weishaupt tells us, the wait is upsetting residents and staff.

KINGSTON, N.Y. -- “Everyone is just so confused. They don’t know what’s going on. They hear several different stories,” said Golden Hill Health Care Center volunteer Allison Wilber.

Hearing several different stories because there have been several different meetings on the future of the Golden Hill Health Care Center. And at Tuesday’s meeting, the Golden Hill Local Development Corporation, or LDC, says the fate of the facility still remains undecided.

“Everyone is very unhappy about the sale overall,” said Wilber.

Privatizing the center has been a hotly contested issue from the beginning. But the county says it’s no longer able to financially support the facility come 2014. And as the bidding process continues, Golden Hill volunteer, Allison Wilber, says residents and staff are feeling out of the loop.

“Most of them are in the dark, like the nurses, the maintenance staff, they have no idea,” said Wilber.

Six companies, all of which operate facilities in the state, placed $150,000 bid deposits for the building back in September. The LDC conducted interviews and toured their facilities to see who’s best suited to take over Golden Hill.

”We continue to try to work out all the details of a final deal and we hope it will come out soon,” said Dare Thompson, Golden Hill Local Development Corp. Chairwoman.

But because they haven’t yet selected a preferred bidder, folks at Golden Hill are growing more anxious. Wilber says staff members have even retired due to the stress of the sale.

“The residents are losing employees they have grown close to just because of this,” said Wilber.

And she says now they just hope the residents remain as undisturbed as possible.

“They are hoping that it’s sold to a good company and that it doesn’t affect the residents, they don’t change much of the ways and the residents get the same amount of care,” said Wilber.

The next LDC meeting is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m.
