CHICOPEE, Mass. -- A Massachusetts State Trooper is recovering after a shooting in Chicopee. It happened after a two hour standoff Friday morning.

Troopers responded to a report of a home invasion, which turned into a standoff. 20 year veteran John Vazquez was shot in the hand and the leg during the incident.

When police went into the home afterwards, they found the gunman dead.

Authorities said a woman and young boy escaped the home, but they did not say if they were hostages.

The trooper is expected to be okay.
