ALBANY, N.Y. -- Some U-Albany students spend their Sunday helping clean up the Pine Hills neighborhood.
The neighborhood has a huge concentration of students living there, and over time has developed a reputation for being rundown and rowdy. It was also the neighborhood where the now infamous 'Kegs and Eggs' Riot took place.
Students who turned out for the cleanup told us it was a great chance to restore their image in the wake of that ugly incident.
“Because we're all obviously representatives of the University of Albany, obviously there's a big controversy there but it's cool that at least we're here to be able to fix that or show that there is some good in here and it starts with our organization,” said Jermaine Wright, U-Albany junior.
Volunteers were asked to wear U-Albany gear so people could see them in action and know where the helping hand was coming from.
