PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The new façade of the Beacon Cinema was unveiled Thursday. Pittsfield Mayor James Ruberto revealed the newly restored exterior of the historic North Street storefront, which will now house six movie screens.
The $21 million project was funded by the developer, Richard Stanley, local banks and the government.
Ruberto says it's all part of his plan to revitalize Pittsfield's downtown area.
"We can honestly now look at this building and say when you enter you're in the year 1900 and when you went through the movie theatre, you're in the year 2009. It's truly remarkable," said Ruberto.
The Beacon Cinema will open to the public on November 20th.
