If you are looking older but don't want to, you are not alone.

Dr. Arthur Falk said, "Aging and rejuvenation has changed. It's not just about lifting and pulling. It's now about volumizing and balance."

Cosmetic surgery has changed, less scalpels, more lasers and now the latest technology. Welcome Ultherapy, using ultra sound waves.

Dr. Falk said, "With this device we are treating deep, not only are we treating deep but we don't have to injure the top layer."

The 45-minute procedure begins by drawing a grid on my face, outlining the targeted zone. Conducer gel is spread on and as the doctor presses down delivering the ultrasound, he can view on the screen exactly how far he is going, careful to not hit a nerve or a bone.

Dr. Falk said, "It gives us an on-line direct visualization at what level we are working. We can see sub surface characteristics, where the skin ends, where the subcutaneous fat is, where there are things like structures and structures like vessels and even bone."

The wand delivers ultra sound repeatedly one area at a time. Because it hits the deeper layers of the skin, the outer skin is spared.

Dr. Falk said, "It creates small, discrete zones that go on to heal at different levels. When these little spots heal, they created new collagen which results in skin tightening and thickening. We are treating at levels if you were at a surgical plane."

There was some mild discomfort, but I got by fine with Motrin. It can be used for brow lifts as well as...

"That early jowling, early skin laxity, early signs of crepitus in neck," said Dr. Falk.

Results can be seen within three months, if desired one more treatment can be done but no sooner than six months. Cost ranges from $2,500 to $3,000.
