Nothing is more depressing than gaining weight when you’ve been told you can't work out. If you've had an injury and been told that you can't work out, it's time to preplan and start negotiating. You may need to cut back on calories and cut out the carbohydrates. When you get the green light to get back to the gym, start with cardio.
